In Brief

The theme of this year's Women’s Common Grounds Coffeehouse is To Live By Faith. You can consider these events to be once-a-month intergenerational mini women's retreats - coming together as sisters in all stages of life to worship, learn from each other, share joys & struggles, & build one another up. They are typically scheduled for the first first Saturday of each month. This year, we'll be exploring what it truly means to live by faith in today’s world. In our time, we will focus on Hebrews 11, gleaning from the lives of a few individuals God commended as having lived by faith. There is no book to purchase ... just bring your Bible. Come when you can! Feel free to participate to the level of your choice: From simply coming to the monthly meetings. . . to in-depth personal study between meetings. All women are welcome & can join in at any time.

Optional Personal Bible Study on Rahab

Hi Ladies,

Wanted to remind you of our next Common Grounds Coffeehouse on May 5th at 6:30 PM. This will be our last Coffeehouse of the semester, so I encourage you to come & enjoy this last time of fellowship & building one another up. :)

We'll be looking at the life of Gideon in the Old Testament, and Chrissy Hamilton will be sharing some things she's learned from him. So, if you'd like to prepare by doing some study on your own in the next few weeks, below are some suggestions.

If you have books checked out, please bring them to turn in (or have a friend bring them if you're unable to be there. We may keep these books available for the summer if there is interest, but I'd like to know we haven't lost any so far first. :)

Optional Personal Bible Study for March

  1. “Splash in the Puddles”
Gideon is mentioned among an amazing group of people whose lives glorified God, though they were less-than-perfect people: Hebrews 11:32-40.
  2. “Wade in the Stream”
Study Gideon's adventure, Judges 6 and 7; also read Judges 8: 10-12; 22-23 (If you are curious about the rest of his life, read all of Judges 8.) What do you notice about Gideon's personality and character; and about God's?
  3. “Swim in the River”
What is a "test of faith" and what does it look like? Read: 1 Peter 1:3-9; 5:6-10 & James 1:2-3 Don't stop there! Now read: I Corinthians 10:13; 2 Corinthians 12:9-10; Romans 8:26, 28; Psalm 34:7-10 and then Ephesians 6:13-18; Romans 8:35-39 4.
  4. “Body Surf in the Ocean”
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Read again all of Hebrews 11, thinking of the people we have studied. What does it mean to live by faith in your life? What in your life is Gideon's Midianite army?
