Beginning in the first chapters of Genesis and extending throughout the entire text, the Bible is filled with insights into masculinity and femininity. Here we find our original purpose (“made... in the image of God”) and the root of our problems (rebellion toward and distrust of God). The men’s and women’s ministries at Summitview exist to examine the biblical teaching regarding gender and to encourage God-glorifying patterns of living as men and women.
"Productive Dominion" and "Life-giving Self Sacrifice"
A man's life was intended to add value to the creation and bring life to others and, though this comes at a cost, men find real life as they expend their strength for these things. But passive distrust of God has led men to flee from this purpose and seek life in selfish and wasteful pursuits.
Restoring Active Trust
The human heart cannot change without the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, restoring men to their created purpose is a Gospel work. The Gospel frees and empowers men by changing their motivations and fixing their minds on the gain of knowing Christ. Men who set their minds on following Christ will make the most of their lives regardless of their circumstances. They will find joy and peace in bringing good to others and worshipping Christ, no matter the cost.
Men’s Ministry Only “Sets the Table”
Our yearly “Spring Training for Men” and regular men’s conferences are provided to “set the table” for the Gospel work of restoring men. The teaching sets the table for discussion, encouragement and admonition among men who regularly invest in each other’s lives on their own initiative. Honest, challenging, supportive and Gospel-centered face time changes men.
